Recreation Programs

Charlotte Junior Soccer Foundation, Inc. has offered recreational soccer programs for Charlotte children since 1974-over 40 YEARS! The recreational program consists of a Fall and a Spring program. The Fall program has over 2,500 players while the spring program has over 2,100 players. Many of our players have gone on to play soccer in middle school, high school, college and beyond.

Our main purpose is to introduce and educate children so they have a lifelong love of the game of soccer. Our Division Coordinators put the teams together with the overall aim of balancing teams by age, experience, and skill level while taking note of both practice day requests and buddy requests. We cannot guarantee any request but we do our best.  Please let us know any special requests or special needs when you register. We organize the teams every Fall season and may hold teams somewhat together in some divisions for the Spring season.

FALL 2017 SEASON INFORMATION: Play begins in middle September and continues through middle November. Practices are once a week (U8-U18) in the afternoon for an hour (between 4 and 8 pm and depends on your coach/team/field availability) with most games on Saturday, usually between 8:30-2:00 PM. Moppets/Under 5 and Under 6 practice and play in one hour segments on Saturday mornings. Due to field limitations, we may cap divisions/age groups where necessary and some divisions may close when full.

FEES: Fees for the Fall 2017 season are $150.  NOTE: Any registrations received after AUGUST 1 will incur a $10 late fee (total cost $160) and are not guaranteed a spot on a team. Late registrations are placed on a space available basis with very limited ability to grant requests. If your child is not placed on a team due to late registration, a full refund will be sent via check. Refunds after a player is assigned a team and given a uniform will be decided on a case-by-case basis. Fees include: uniform (socks, shorts, shirt) and trophy (U5-U12); referee fees; field rental, lights and maintenance; team equipment; and minimal administrative fees. The player needs a water bottle and shin guards; cleats are not required but recommended.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Charlotte Junior Soccer offers need based financial assistance.  Click Here to inquire!

AGE DIVISIONS: Charlotte Junior Soccer Foundation offers the following divisions of play--mainly based on school grade level. The new age divisions are listed and in keeping with the national soccer move to calendar year (January-December) from the old August 1 cut off. CJSF will continue to place children primarily based on GRADE LEVEL.

We are relatively strict on age cut offs, especially playing "UP" in Under 5 or Under 6. If you want your child to "play up" (making your child one of the youngest) in Under 5 or 6, you must be a Head Coach or Co-Coach. We also will make few if any exceptions for any child born after 12/31/11. We make exceptions on "playing down" on a case-by-case basis-just email us. Age divisions are outlined above, with each division separated by gender. We automatically adjust players based on grade level into divisions, UNLESS we receive a prior request to play up or down.

Under 5's: This program (called Moppets) is divided into boys and girls teams. The teams are kept very small-5 or 6 max.-and play is 3v3. The teams will practice and play games on Saturday mornings in a combined 1 hour session.

Under 6's: The Under 6's (formerly called the Muppets) will continue to be Girls and Boys with no co-ed teams. Teams are 6-8 players and play 4v4. They practice and play games on Saturday mornings in a combined 1 hour session with a Monday night skills night open to all U6s.

WEATHER CANCELLATIONS: Please check the Home page for the very latest information on all Charlotte Junior Soccer Foundation activities, dates, weather, and information. Game and practice cancellations will be listed on the web site as quickly as possible.
